I’ve been reading a lot this year- Yay me!! It was kind of a mini new years resolution. I also decided that I was going to buy physical books rather than e-books because I needed something that wasn’t on a screen. Working in front of a computer all day, watching TV after work, using a computer for blogging, and my addiction to things like Facebook/Twitter/Pinterest/You Tube on my phone was starting to get a bit much for my poor eyes so I had to get them a non screen related hobby. Should I have picked exercise? Probably… but nope.
Oh look at that, another You Tuber writing a book. It seems to be the in thing at the moment, doesn’t it. I have to admit that I get really sceptical, but I’m yet to read a book by a You Tuber that I didn’t like. Maybe it’s a case of severe jealousy. I wish I could get a book deal out of my work. Maybe I’m not trying hard enough.
Isn’t it funny how you listen to a song or read a book and at that time in your life you think ‘I swear to god that song was written for me’. Well I’ve just had one of those moments in the form of a book. The book that I have now awarded ‘best book everrrr’ on my personal book reading list.
I cannot tell you how thrilled I am that I started this little blog series. I know it’s only my second book review, but it’s exactly what I needed to kick start this reading thing again. The only down side is that now I want to read all the time instead of blog. Oh the problems I have. I also feel like I may be the last person in the world to discover Book Depository. Those books are CHEAP compared to the book stores, aren’t they!! And free worldwide shipping? I must have been hiding under a rock to miss this little gem!!
When I was a kid I used to read a lot. My favourite part of the day was between 8.30pm and 9pm when I was tucked up in bed with the latest Baby Sitters Club book. Since becoming a little bit more ‘adult’ my reading time has slowly faded away. During uni I spent so much time reading thick text books that there wasn’t enough time for anything else.
Now that I’m mostly all done with that my aim is to start reading again. And not just books on my iPad either, actual physical books. iBooks is handy for when I’m out and about but nothing compares to a physical book in your hand and the smell of freshly printed pages.
