I hate to admit it, but I like saving money. I like it so much that when I had a savings account that accrued interest daily I would log on to my netbank just to have a look at the figure rising up and up. I like it so much that I would confidently put ‘money saver’ on a list of hobbies, or sit on the couch on a weeknight after work and write a blog post on money saving tips for travel or anything you need it be, really.
I would like to say it comes from the great feeling of being self sufficient and knowing I have backup money incase my entire world turns to sh*t, but so far my favourite feeling has been walking into a new car shop looking like your average poor twenty something and having the assumption made that I will need to finance and then proudly saying “oh no, I’ll be making a cash payment.” The end of that story was me not wanting to part with my money and buying a second hand car for half the price (which I still have 7 years later) but thats beside the point.
It’s so easy to sit here at 31 and think about all of the things I would do differently in my life. I think those people that say ‘no regrets’ are kidding themselves because I tell you what.. I definitely regret wearing my Ugg boots to the shops that one time and falling over twice in the middle of a pedestrian crossing!!
Today I thought I would write a post that is a little bit different for me. It’s a post about the things that I have found unexpectedly difficult since becoming a blogger. I use the term ‘blogger’ very loosely too, because to be a blogger you kinda have to blog, and thats something I haven’t been doing for a couple of months. Given that this blog is reasonably new to me I thought I would be so excited to write my little heart out and I would be churning out more posts than a newspaper can publish a daily edition. I am rather disappointed in myself on that front to be honest, and it’s only now that I sit down and once again try to create a blog post that I’m actually thinking of the reasons why I keep stalling when I hit that ‘new post’ button.
The 31st was my 31st Birthday. Yup.. 31.. on the 31st!! I can’t believe it myself. Its scary how the years go so quickly when you get older, not that turning 31 is old (I hope). It feels like only yesterday I was celebrating my 30th birthday in the most mature way possible with a trip to Harry Potter World in Orlando. This year was a little bit more sedate but I still had a great day.
