November Favourites

Can we all just take a minute to complain about how fast November went.  I realise I pointed out how fast October went.. and September for that matter, but I’m still shocked.  I always hope that November goes fast though because I’m sooo desperate for it to be Christmas time and I know how some people get all judgey about getting in the spirit too early.  It’s like I have to be a secret Christmas admirer for November and as soon as it hits December I’m like BAM!!!  Let it ALL OUT!!!

Speaking of letting it all out, here are my favourites for the month of November.

Books:  The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin.

It’s a book from 2009 that I’m sure a lot of people have heard of/already read, but it’s been sitting in my ‘sample’ bookshelf on iBooks for ages.  About a week ago I just decided to start reading it and I’ve barely been able to put it down.  It’s about the author, Gretchen, who decides to spend a year focussing on things that make her happy.  It’s broken down into months and each month she builds on the last by having different focusses.  What I love about this book is that Gretchen isn’t unhappy in her life, she has just decided that there is room in her life for MORE happiness.  It feels more achievable than some of the other books I’ve read that assume that there are parts of your life where you are unhappy and to fix that you need to make enormous gestures like quitting your job and following your dream.

TV Shows:  Fuller House Season 2

Don’t judge me, ok.  Surprisingly I’ve barely watched Full House but for some reason Fuller House really does it for me.  It’s great for something light and you can have it on in the background without worrying you’re going to miss the important story line.  It’s got some original cast members in it like DJ, Stephanie and Kimmy Gibbler but it’s more based around their families.  They have a lot of the old cast doing cameo’s though.

Movie: Murder on the Orient Express

I loved it!!  I haven’t read the Agatha Christie book it’s based on, nor seen the original film so I think that is why I enjoyed it so much.  I looked it up on IMDB afterwards and there were reviews tearing strips off it.  It was all about how it was a waste of money to remake it etc.  Talk about awkward.  I still loved it though and it has a stellar cast so if you’re looking for a good murder mystery (because that’s what it is if you hadn’t figured that out from the title) then I’d highly recommend.

Skin Care Update:

Palmers Cocoa Butter Skin Perfecting Ultra Hydrating Serum.

Remember last month I mentioned how I got a sample of the Palmers Hydrating Serum and that I was probably going to buy it?  Well I did and I’m still using it.  I was right, it was about $25 and I found it at Priceline.  For a small bottle I’m definitely using it sparingly, but I still think it’s worth it.

Makeup: Nude By Nature

I kept seeing Nude by Nature sales and bonus offers when I made my first order so I finally decided to cave and try some out.  I got the BB Cream, Flawless Liquid Foundation and a Highlighting Pallet.  I’m actually liking all of them.  They seem to have enough sales that you never have to buy things full price which is nice, and they’re a bit more nature friendly than some other brands so I like that too.  I would say that it’s light coverage, and you don’t need to use a great deal.  When I first got it I did 2 pumps like I do with my other foundation and basically drowned in it.

The highlighter is definitely a highlighter!!  Sounds dumb, but because I’m so pale I have to be super careful that I don’t light up like the star on a Christmas Tree, and that the bronzer doesn’t turn me into Rudolph.  If I don’t go overboard then the whole pallet looks nice.
