October Favourites

And the Blogger Procrastination Award goes toooo… MEEEE!!!!  Considering one of the key aspects of a successful blog is to be consistent I’m certainly not doing a good job in that area.  ANYWAY that’s not what I’m here to talk about.  I’m here to talk about my October Favourites before it’s wayyyy too far into November.  Anyone else feel like it’s too early to talk about October favourites because it was just September like 5 seconds ago?  Yup, me too!

This month I started a new book.  It’s the only book I’ve read this month but luckily it’s been pretty good so far so I feel like it’s ok to add it to a favourites list.  Any guesses on the topic of this book? “Is it a Self Help book, Emma?!”  Why yes it is.. what an unexpected surprise.  Read about the others I’ve read here.

You may think I’ve got some serious issues going on up in here because I’ve been churning through the self helpies like a machine, but when you’ve worked in customer service for most of your life you need a little pep talk every now and again otherwise you start to think that you’re personally responsible for everything bad that has ever happened in the world.

You Are a Badass:  How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life by Jen Sincero

I only need to read this title and it makes me feel better.  “You Are a Badass:  How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life.. Yeah, that’s right.  I AM a Badass.  I SHOULD stop doubting my greatness.  That’s F*CK’n RIGHT…”

See.. problem solved.  No need to go on.

..But I will.  I will go on.  I’ll need to report back because I’m only about 4 chapters in, but already I’ve had a little mind shift.  It wasn’t immediately life changing, but it did give me an idea so that’s better than nothing.

TV Shows: Riverdale

Oh yes, Jughead, there’s a season 2!!  Hallelujah!!  Why the hell Netflix drip feeds 1 episode a week to a world full of serious binge watchers I’ll never understand, but the fact is, there’s a season 2 and it’s started.  I’m not so sure about the whole dark Archie though.  A high school kid trying to take on a crazy gunman?  I’m not sure I’m feeling it.

Outlander Season 3

For a show that sounded like it would not interest me in the slightest I seem to be rather obsessed.  Which reminds me, I think there’s an episode I need to catch up on.. damn it, I need to type faster to get this post done.  For those of you that don’t know it’s based on a book series and after a few episodes you’re fully involved.  When you read the blurb it sounds rather bland, but I promise you it is sooo good!!

After serving as a British Army nurse in World War II, Claire Randall is enjoying a second honeymoon in Scotland with husband Frank, an MI6 officer looking forward to a new career as an Oxford historian. Suddenly, Claire is transported to 1743 and into a mysterious world where her freedom and life are threatened… – IMDB

It almost lost me after the horrific sex scene of the Season 1 Finale, but I had enough time to recover before season 2 came out.  Glad I persisted.

Skin Care: Palmers Cocoa Butter Skin Perfecting Ultra Hydrating Serum.

Isn’t that the longest name in the history of all skincare?!  I got a sample of this in a new beauty box subscription that I signed up for (I’ll write a post on that later) and it’s pretty great.  I’m a big serum fan because I feel like it’s doing more work than a moisturiser because it sinks in quicker (clearly I have no factual evidence to support my claim, but that’s what it feels like so I’m sticking to it)  I didn’t realise Palmers did a serum.  I thought they were all about that hand cream like a 90’s one hit wonder so I was surprised to see it as a sample.  Its a tiny bit more sticky than some of the others I’ve tried so I used it as a night serum rather than a day one under my moisturiser, but I really, really liked it.  It says ‘restores radiance and smoothes fine lines’ and I actually think it does.  I feel like I don’t have that many fine lines to test it out on, but my eyesight is pretty bad and they probably call them fine lines for a reason sooo…!  I’m still super happy with it anyway.  I’ve had no reactions and my skin feels moisturised and soft.  I’m seriously considering buying the full size one which is apparently about $25ish.

Gardening

I never ever everrrr thought I would put gardening on a favourites list, but now that the better weather is here we’ve been able to make the garden look more umm.. gardeny and less like an abandoned forrest.  When we first bought our house I was determined that gardening was Jerome’s domain, but as per usual he was right when he said that I would probably enjoy it.  I only like it when I can see quick results because I lose interest fast and I also burn like nothing you’ve ever seen before so I can’t stay in the sun for very long.

Here is a before and after shot of the weeding I did in our front courtyard last week.  Pretty happy about it.

Well that’s it for another month of favourites.  Don’t forget I have all of the social media things on the go like a good blogger so you can follow me and never ever miss a post about my exciting gardening adventures 😉
