September Favourites

Oh look at that another person trying to be all like ‘I’m a real blogger, I write monthly favourites posts’.  Yup.  I’m trying to be that girl.  I guess they wouldn’t be so popular if they didn’t work, and to be honest I’ve been buying some stuff lately that I’m excited about and what kind of person would I be if I didn’t share my purchases with my closest internet friends #InternetBFF4Lyfe.

So lets get started on my September Favourites.  No one is here to listen to me babble on (or are you?!.. Hi Mum)

My new unicorn pen from Typo

Freak YES!!  I have my very own unicorn pen!!!  I’ve had other pens from Typo (like a moustache pen and a camera pen) and I know that most people would think they write funny, but I like them.  They’re thin line ones (how do I even explain this?!)  They’re not super inky and thick.  Plus it’s in the shape of a unicorn horn so what’s not to like about it really.  I take it to work so all my notes can be magical.

My new Ravenclaw notebook

You know when you’re out and about and you think of the best idea for a novel and you’re sure it’s going to make you rich and then you go to think of that idea later and you’ve forgotten it?!  Then you think to yourself ‘Gee I should have written that down’.  That’s the reason I need a little pocket size notebook to carry around with me (and so I can remember what to get at the supermarket.. yup, mostly that) and what could be better than a Harry Potter themed notebook (because, lets face it, we all wish we’d come up with that idea).  Despite the fact that I’m a Gryffindor I chose Ravenclaw because I don’t really shine in scarlet and gold.

Book: Can I Speak to Someone in Charge: Emily Clarkson

I’ve read this book on and off this month and even though I haven’t finished it I’m still going to put it in here.  Emily Clarkson (Jeremy Clarkson’s daughter, you know, the Top Gear guy?!) writes an amazing blog called Pretty Normal Me.  The book is a series of open letters to various things like Dear Women Who Know They Look Good in Lycra, and more hard hitting stuff like Dear Eating Disorders.  It’s overflowing with relatable stuff.  Its equally funny as it is comforting to know that the little quirky things you think only you notice are actually things that all girls go through in some way or another (not necessarily eating disorders luckily, mostly Dear The Gym).  It’s also nice that it’s broken down into letters, it makes it easier to read over a longer period of time.

TV Show: The Good Place

I love Kristen Bell.  I love Veronica Mars, I love Forgetting Sarah Marshall, I love You Again, she really can do no wrong in my eyes.  I was a bit sceptical at first and I didn’t really get into the show until maybe the 3rd episode but I’m glad I persisted.  I know I’m behind a little bit on this show because it’s just started season 2, but I’m Australian and we get things added to Netflix like 5 years after everyone else.

Basically it’s a show about Eleanor (Kristen Bell) who dies and ends up going to The Good Place, the only problem is they have confused her life on earth with someone else.  The episodes are light and they only go for 20ish minutes so they’ve been perfect for my 12pm-8pm shifts when I’m scoffing down second dinner when I get home.

Skincare: Lancome Lait Galatee Confort (Comforting Makeup Remover Milk)

Mum got this in one of those ‘spend $75 and get a free gift bag’ promotions at Myer.  I love it when they do that.  Even though it’s a makeup remover the description basically says its a cleanser.  Same, same, I guess.  I’ve been using it in the shower every few days to make sure I’ve washed all the makeup off my face properly.  Its so nice to apply and my face feels soft, smooth and totally clean after I use it.  It even smells like it would moisturise the bejeezus out of you.  It’s definitely going to make it’s way onto the permanent skin care list.  Well played Lancome with your free gift, well played.

**I couldn’t find the exact one so I’ve linked to the cleanser.

Makeup: Covergirl TruNaked Eyeshadow Palette (Nude)

This is for anyone who looks at the price of the Urban Decay palettes and says to themselves ‘NOPE’.  It’s a solid alternative that’s for sure.  I’ve been using it non stop since I got it.  I actually didn’t realise it came in other shades like Roses and Goldens because I just saw this one at the supermarket and in the trolley it went.  Best value palette I’ve had in a while though.  Clearly being so pale I only use some of the colours, but I’m sure one day when I finally get around to fake tanning I’ll be able to use the others 😉

Can’t wait until I discover new things in October.  What are your September Favourites?
